Founded in Lutsk in 1994. Initial participants:

All musicians played in different Ukrainian groups of early 90’s. With these groups they attended almost all Western-Ukrainian festivals known at that time. At these events musicians not only gained awards but also enriched their experience and improved their skills. The greatest victory is the first prize at Ukrainian television festival “Melody-96”. The final part was held in Lviv Opera House at Christmas in 1996.
The winning song was called “Good and evil”. The same year at the Lutsk studio “Olexa” the group recorded an album which was also entitled “Good and evil”. Unfortunately, this album was not released. Situation in Ukrainian show business didn’t give the group any chance to realize creative ideas. Respecting themselves and public, the musicians decided not to do “much ado about nothing” because in any case the situation could not be changed. They quietly settled down in the native town.
So, nowadays the musicians settled down in the pub “Maydan” too. With the support of the club administration they feel well and dignified playing the music they like, drinking beer and admiring pretty girls. The musicians do not put limitations on their style though their favourite trend is hard guitar rock. The main criteria are professionalism, tunefulness and honesty.
Being the best known group in the town and in the region, “King Size” doesn’t like to put on airs and doesn’t look for cheap popularity. At the same time the members of the group are perfectly sure that essential thing is to do their job well and genuinely with love and respect towards fans and people who need this. Sooner or later everything will come to its place. What matters is your way in life which brings joy…
The group often plays abroad, in the neighboring state Poland where the musicians are welcome. The group’s composition almost did not change in the course of 10 years. In 2000 vocalist Oleh Dmytruk left the band and major vocal parts were performed by the guitarist Stepan Chumak. For several years the group continued remained a trio. In 2003 during a studio session the members of “King Size” met a talented guitarist from Simferopol – Olexandr Basov. He is famous for his work at the studio “Kimmeria” in Simferopol. Sasha played and recorded a huge amount of music material. He also worked at the studio “Palaris” of band “Zurbagan”.
“King Size” turned into a quartet again. Apart from his work in “King Size” the frontman of the band also occupies the place of a guitarist in the group of singer Olexandr Ponomariov who is an eminent figure in Ukraine as well as abroad.
At present the band is going to record an album the material for which has been prepared long ago. It’s a pity but audio material on this site does not reflect the music played by the group now. It is just a little part of a 10 years’ long creative way of musicians. Our piece of advice for the listeners: to feel the sound and the talent of musicians to full extent one need to come to pub “Maydan” in Lutsk, Volyn region. Still we hope that circle of supporters of this original and stylish Ukrainian group will become larger. Considering plans for a new album the musicians think of changing the name of the band into a more “Ukrainian” one. You will get the information on this site when this happens.
The musicians look for interested partners for cooperation relating to producing, marketing and a contract with recording firms. They also offer studio (session) and concert services (one of possible options – cooperation with famous singers who search for an accompanying group).
